Our leadership team brings together years of experience in the cyber defense sector.

Ethan Schmertzler

Ethan Schmertzler is the Chief Executive Officer at Dispel. Mr. Schmertzler is responsible for day-to-day operations. He has previously served as a lead engineer, and as a financial analyst working on early-stage and growth equity technology investments. He graduated cum laude from Middlebury College with a B.A. in psychology.


Ian Schmertzler

Ian Schmertzler is the President and CFO of Dispel. Prior to helping found Dispel, Ian was an Associate in BlackRock’s Financial Market’s Advisory Group focused on the banking system bailouts in Europe and the United States. Ian got his start in non-financial programming through General Assembly’s full stack web development program in 2014. Ian holds a Master’s in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a BA in Chemistry and History from Yale.


Chris DiLorenzo

Chris DiLorenzo is the Director of Engineering at Dispel. A graduate of Uppsala University (M.Sc.), Chris started his career as a sociotechnical systems engineer, and as a researcher at Saab Aeronautics working on software for the JAS 39 Gripen fighter jet. Today, he has taken his engineering skills and is applying them toward entrepreneurship: first becoming Chief Technology Officer at prominent New York startup TripleMint and now Director of Engineering at the cyberdefense firm Dispel.


Ben Burke

Benjamin Burke serves as Director of Operations at Dispel, overseeing business development, sales, system operations, and contract fulfillment. Prior to moving into Operations, he worked as an engineer to build Dispel‘s platform, focusing primarily on private networking, system integration, and UI/UX. Additionally, he serves as an editor & video/audio engineer for the Cyber Security Dispatch. Ben graduated magna cum laude from Yale College with a BS in Chemical Engineering.


Andy Anderson

Andy Anderson is the Director of Marketing & Sales at Dispel. Andy holds an MBA from Columbia University and graduated Yale College with a BA in History.
